I’ve had a ‘17 Pro4X for about 8 months now. Been a strong & reliable performer, but there are a few things they fell a little short on. The fuel economy. I get around 15 mpg around town, which is no better than my old full sized Chevy. If it had had a better transmission, with a higher overdrive, I have no doubt that it would be better. Myself, I wish I had the 6 speed manual. The back seat is a strictly short trip thing. If you’ve ever ridden in the back of a deuce & a half, it’s a little better than that. The backup camera is not very clear, and the screen is such that, given the slightest glare, and it’s invisible. And if you’re wearing polarized sunglasses, you can’t see it at all. The power assist steering doesn’t offer much assistance at slow speeds, when you need it the most. Dated styling? Subjective, and some won’t care.

I have a 2017 4.0 v6 with just under 143k miles now, I bought it with 132k and put 10k on it within 8 months. It has been reliable as a brick and I am very happy with the power it has compared to my last truck that was a 2003 ford ranger with the 3.0 V6. I have only two things I don’t like about it. The first I have seen others talk about, the turning radius is not good. My Ranger would turn inside the turning circle of the frontier. The second I haven’t seen anyone else mention on this video but I have seen elsewhere, mine is plagued by the startup rattle. Upon a cold startup (2+ hours of sitting) the timing chain rattles its brains out for about 2 seconds before going quiet. If anyone else has this problem you can hold the gas pedal to the floor so the engine won’t start and crank the it for about 3 seconds before lifting your foot and letting it start. It’s not ideal I know, but the problem is more than likely the secondary tensioner being worn out and needing oil pressure to build in the primary tensioner before the chain won’t rattle it. The repair requires an expensive shop bill or decent mechanical knowledge so this might be the best option for you at the moment. Overall I love the truck though and am hoping to get over 200k out of it. Great video.

A better fix might be to grind or polish the surface that contacts the locking tab, with a Dremel tool or equivalent, so the tab can move freely into a good position behind the blade. 👈

I bought a 2014 pro 4X 3 years ago with 92000 on it it has a 118 on it now unfortunately I love that truck so much but since I live in New Hampshire it's gonna rot well before it's time. But I told myself 2 months after I got it that I'll just keep driving Nissan frontiers cause you can pick them up for next to nothing well you know what I mean.

Pro tip - buy a jug of VM&P Naphtha at Home Depot instead of “Zippo fluid” or Ronsonol. It’s literally lighter fluid. Use a syringe to pull from it to fill your zippo.

My 2016 Frontier SV has 202000 miles on it now. Owned it since new has been the most reliable vehicle. Its never broken down or been in a shop. Ive had two CEL lights on. One was for a clogged EVAP canister and the other was a bad MAF. The evap canister failed at around 140k and the MAF failed at 197k. Other then that, it has no problems. Only complaint is road noise. Great vehicle for sure.

I personally carry a zippo for emergency's that might never happen. When shit hits the fan and there is no longer internet or power I think a zippo will be better long term then a Bic lighter. If I'm out camping and shit hits the fan. I'm lost in bad weather, a zippo will be easier to use to start a fire as well. Also with a Zippo, angling the "head" of the sleeve just right will heat up the sleeve all together allowing me to slowly heat my hands up preventing any kind of frost bite allowing me to go just a few extra hours. Those extra hours can save my life as well

Just ordered me one of these to carry as my edc knife. I bought the Stretch 2 in K390, but I don't wanna use it, it's so gorgeous, so I bought this one to use. I figured the VG10 would be better to maintain with my Spyderco Sharpmaker, I can touch it up real fast and won't have to break out the stones, etc. I got mine on sale for 67$ bucks, which was a deal I could pass, Delicas are usually more than that alone.

I had one of those and LOVED it ... Lasted me Years before I lost it due to homelessness ... Now i have a Klarus XT21X .I got it a month or two ago for $25 because the guy who owned it said it didn't work and it wouldn't charge! The micro USB port is faulty but I can simply charge the batteries on a standalone charger and this thing is good to go again! Sure, I miss the ability to charge the light with a USB cable but... the Fenix PD32 was my Most TREASURED torch for years and you couldn't recharge the batteries without removing them so I don't really care. I absolutely love my new Klarus ... And i got it for ONLY $25.00!!!

you can do all maintenance yourself. Other than needing to take out the air hoses to change the spark plus theres enough space for everything. If your paying a mechanic they get it done at 1 week tops if there busy or before the days over on slow days.

I had two pocket knives clipped to my pocket while I was moving from Kentucky back to Ohio, and a gas station clerk asked me about it a split second after I entered. Forgot I had both, just was packing quick. Anyway, started doing construction a couple years after, always carrying 2 knives, one regular pocket knife and one razor knife. In like 6 years nobody has ever asked me about two knives again. Kinda weird.

I love Zippo lighters and think they are neat. I also don't smoke. As many advantages a Zippo can bring as a fire tool in EDC, you need to keep fueling it which for me sucks cuz I like to "forget" I even have stuff on me until I actually need it. A compact BIC in my Levi's coin pocket is all the fire tool I use. Used to fit a Zippo and baby LED light in there. Carry and use your stuff long enough, and EDC goes from a hobby to a lifestyle to a habbit.

Take it from an older US Marine, even if you don't smoke a prepared man should always carry a good pocket knife, a pocket flashlight, and a Zippo (or Bic). A Zippo is simply a means of providing heat, even light, especially in a survival event. :)

So, I have a carabiner on my backpack shoulder strap with a small piece of tape on it. It's very handy for temporarily hanging things (gloves or anything on a lanyard or with a loop). Now, because I'm rarely seen without my backpack and I'm usually on foot dressed somewhat in rugged attire, in public, people often mistake me for military. I've had a lot of vets nod and say, "How's it going, brother?" One guy asked my if I was infantry or airborne. This was never my intention, and it always ends briefly in noncommittal gestures and hand waving that imply I'd love to chat but I've got somewhere I need to be. I really don't want to be drawn into a conversation where I have to explain that I'm really just a fan of rucking and being prepared, that I have friends in the military yes, but I'm not one myself, that I had thought about it when I was younger, that I'm actually a knowledgeable rock climber, etc. all of which has the possibility of sparking all kinds of anecdotes and stories, which, TBF, are great, but not always for me. It's the same thing with twisty puzzles like the Rubik's cube. Yes, I am aware that some 12 year old kids can solve it in 7 seconds. I am not one of those people :)

I've also ran Amsoil after my first oil change. Still runs like new. Blue Paint is the only problem. Paint peeling and more belt pully replaced several times after a year to have been replaced. It always starts whining when it's cold weather.
